A magnet storytelling resource for this old, but well loved story that teaches children, that courage, confidence and self esteem, are not determined by their size.
Rabbit and his animal friends try to get rid of an intruder who has taken up residence in the cave. But in turn each one becomes fearful as they assume that that big voice comes from an even bigger animal. Children will identify will the little caterpillar and see that although he is small, self confidence is what is required. And they're enthralled by the story of the big animal who are fooled by the little caterpillar with the big voice
If you enjoy stories like the Lion and the Mouse, where the little guy comes out on top, you'll enjoy A Caterpillars Voice There is also a A literacy and numeracy file folder activity to download and extend the use of this story resource
I have based my version of A Caterpillar's Voice, on a story from the African Masai Tribe called ‘The Story of the Caterpillar and the Wild Animals’. This folktale is over 100 years old but still popular and makes a great school play
