Expectations and dreams… the hopes we have for who we will become and what life will be like. Sometimes, things don't work out the way we thought they would.
In this inspirational American folktale three trees dreamed about the wonderful things they want to be want they are grown. However all three are disappointed - temporarily
The first wishes to be made into a treasure chest. It becomes the manger for baby Jesus, holding the greatest treasure in the world. The second dreams of becoming a strong sailing ship fit for kings. It becomes the fishing boat, which carries Jesus. The third tree wishes to be the tallest tree in the world so that when people look at it they will raise their eyes to heaven and think of God. This tree is made into the cross on which Jesus is crucified and so people always think of God when they see it.

This tale reminds us we sometimes limit our own potential. The plan and purpose you think you're meant for in this lifetime may not turn out to be the real reason. You may experience things you couldn't ever hoped for or anticipated. Thus, it makes sense to rethink disappointments, and how we deal with them.
NB: It s really hard to describe the values of this story, I've written this page a few times looking for the right words. But I believe that in whatever form you acknowledge Jesus Christ this story is worth reading.
